How MB Computers collects, uses and looks after your personal information, in plain English.
Last updated: 11 October 2026
Who we are
MB Computers is run by Matthew Brown as a sole trader in the UK, operating from Newmains, Wishaw and Peebles. MB Computers is the controller of the personal information described here under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email [email protected].
Contact form and enquiries
When you use the contact form on this website we collect your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), the topic you choose and your message. We also record the date and time and your IP address to help prevent spam and abuse. The form sends this to us by email at [email protected]. The same applies if you email, phone or message us directly.
We use this only to reply to you and deal with your enquiry. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. We keep enquiries only as long as needed to deal with them and any follow-up, then delete them.
Customers and billing
If you become a customer, your account is managed in our client billing portal at billing.mbc.scot (run on Blesta software). This holds details such as your name, organisation, address, email, phone number, the services you have, invoices, payments and support tickets.
Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered into and handled by Stripe; we do not see or store your full card number. Stripe’s own privacy policy applies to the information it processes.
Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you, and meeting legal obligations such as keeping accounting and tax records, which we keep for as long as the law requires.
Hosting, email, VoIP and streaming services
When we provide web hosting, email hosting, domain names, VoIP phone systems or radio streaming, we necessarily process data you or your users store or send through those services, such as website files, emails, call records and voicemail, and technical logs (for example IP addresses and access logs). We process this only to provide, secure and support the services, and do not use it for any other purpose. Domain registrations require your details to be passed to the relevant domain registry.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and does not track you across other sites. It only uses what is strictly necessary for it to work. The billing portal uses essential cookies so you can log in and stay signed in securely. Strictly necessary cookies do not need your consent.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with suppliers we need to provide our services, such as our hosting and email providers, the billing software, Stripe for payments, telecoms providers for VoIP and domain registries, or where the law requires it. These suppliers may only use your information to provide their service to us.
Keeping it secure
We take sensible technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and restricted access.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, where we don’t need to keep it;
- object to or ask us to restrict how we use it;
- ask for a copy of information you gave us in a portable format.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
